Do you remember when you would walk out to the street, open the mail box, see a letter to you (yes to you, and you didn’t regularly get any mail!), open it with complete exuberance and anticipation, only to find out you’d received a Chain Letter telling you that if you copied and sent to x number of people something good would happen to you… you know, like you would not die or would inherent a million dollars? Back then we didn’t have the Internet with thousands of sources to review and verify any of the information contained. We had to take what was presented at face value and decide for ourselves to the viability of the claim… or threat.
When we see similar types of emails today, like those touting some anti-american action or statement made by a public figure, remember we can responsibly uncover a lot before additional dissemination.
My disapproval of our past and cautious approval of our present Political Situation is for reasons I find to be more logical / ideological and, based on my understanding of the truth, than some randomly forwarded chain mail letter. My reasons are based on what I believe. Partially because of my personal life experiences and primarily because I was raised by reasonable, rational, responsible people who cared about what kind of a man I’d grow up to be:
- I believe you are either part of the solution, or part of the problem.
- I believe if you are able bodied, pull your own weight, if you can’t, loose weight.
- I believe 99.999% of us are able bodied, and those who truly aren’t can still participate…. we’re not playing Red Rover here.
- I believe if it’s your fault then it’s your problem, fess up and take the consequences, AND if it’s your problem, fix it… YOU broke it and it’s not anyone else’s responsibility.
- I believe that you help your neighbor without him asking, but I also believe you learn a lot when he doesn’t return the favor.
- I believe if you can’t afford it, you shouldn’t buy it… But if you really need it, hopefully you’ve helped your neighbor a time or two and can borrow his.
- I believe a scooter at Walmart is for someone whom if they really tried to walk, couldn’t… not just didn’t want to.
- I believe in listening to those who came before us, if they actually did anything with their lives then they’ve made plenty of mistakes, and are a pretty good resource to find out how to… and how not to do things.
- I believe a hand out is for shaking and a veteran is for thanking, not the other way around.
- I believe America is a country of traditions, differences, values and history. Every American belongs here. Every American should be accepted here. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
I know these beliefs set me apart from a growing number of people, unfortunately a majority of them are directing our country’s future. I also know my beliefs just might preclude me from worrying about being chosen for Jury Duty, Sheriff, or any political post in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada and most of Eastern Europe.
~Cheers.
